Introduction & Site Navigation

Phil and Carey Bolin

Hello, we’re Phil and Carey Bolin. This website serves as a platform to record our past boating trips, over 40,000 miles, so we, and our family and friends, can look back in our old age to review the fun we had.

The web site is divided into three sections, each one marking changes to software I used to make the pages.

  • Section I, this section, is basically a blog using WORDPRESS that covers the current time back to 2017.  It is a mixture of boat trips, short excursions with boating clubs, and non-boating family activities.  Each page of this section features linked indexes to the blog posts.
  • Section II covers only boating activities from 2014 to 2018 (some overlap with Section I); two trips to the Bahamas from Colonial Beach, VA, and a trip in Florida to Lake Okeechobee.  You can go directly to Section II by clicking http://www.yachtapolonia.com.
  • Section III covers boating activities from 2005 to 2014; a Great Loop trip, 4 Bahama trips, a trip north to Ottawa, moving Cherish, a 68-foot Burger up the ICW, a short trip in the Chesapeake and a couple of land trips.  You can go directly to Section III by clicking http://www.yachtapolonia.com/frontpagefiles.

In this section, under the “Blog of Events and Happenings” tab, you can find blog posts dating back to 2017.  You will also find a “Contact” page, which allows you to leave comments, and the “Our Boating Adventures” page that gives you more info on the makeup of this site, as well as a quick view of the boats we have used over time.

Over the years since 2005, we’ve covered approximately 40,000 miles on our original boat, Apolonia, often accompanied by our dog, Maddie.  Maddie has passed away and we miss her. In July 2017, we sold our home in Colonial Beach, VA, and relocated to Florida. Initially, we settled in a Condo/Villa in Port St. Lucie, FL, but Carey soon realized she preferred a house over a condo. Consequently, we sold the condo and purchased a home with a pool in the back yard. We also parted with the original Apolonia and acquired a new 37-foot express cruiser, which we also named Apolonia. This boat was ideal for Florida. We also had a 22′ picnic boat that we enjoyed for a number of years but sold it in Florida because it required too much maintenance.

After some time, we decided to return to Colonial Beach, VA, where we wanted to live. We moved back and bought a small house to be closer to our old friends and the area. We also sold the second Apolonia and purchased a 42′ Grand Banks Trawler, which we are using for more boating adventures.
